Join the Big Conversation at Broseley LJC meeting

Residents in the Broseley and Barrow area are invited to the Broseley and Barrow Local Joint Committee meeting on Wednesday 20 January, where they will be able to join in Shropshire Council’s Big Conversation.

This is Shropshire Council’s biggest conversation to date, and it comes in light of continuous Government cuts which, in five years’ time, will leave only one quarter (£25m) of the current funding that pays for over 150 services. This is a reduction of 75% from the £100m the council currently spends on these services.

As there will be considerably less money, the council will not be able to deliver the same services as they do now and will need to prioritise how the budget is spent.

Councillor Jean Jones, who chairs the meeting, said:

“The council is now at a point where it is faced with the need to make further substantial savings over the coming years. I would encourage everyone to come and tell us your views on the services you value, the services you don’t and the services the community may consider delivering yourselves.”

The meeting is to be held in the Pritchard Room at the Birchmeadow Centre at 7pm on Wednesday 20 January 2016.

For further information on the committee call Kerry Rogers, Community Enablement Officer on 07990 085206.
