A gunging for staff, cake sale, leg waxing and balloon popping for prizes will be among the activities taking place at University Centre Shrewsbury’s Guildhall to raise money for Children in Need.

Students have planned an afternoon of fundraising for the BBC charity at the learning and research base on Wednesday 11 November, open to all.

People are invited to come along to the courtyard at the building in Frankwell Quay which will be filled with stalls, music, and students and staff facing daring tasks between 2pm and 5pm.

The event will move to the business lounge, near reception, if needed due to the weather.

Robert Rowlands, University Centre Shrewsbury student community representative said:

“Lots will be happening at Guildhall on Wednesday November 11 to raise money for Children in Need.

“Come and see a member of staff get gunged – you can vote from a list of not-so willing volunteers.

“We’ll also have an area filled with balloons containing slips listing prizes, which you can pay to pop.

“Some of us will be getting our legs waxed – a hair raising activity we’re hoping will bring in a few donations. We’ll also have a bake sale, face painting and there will be busking.

“We’re really enjoying coming up with ideas and planning the afternoon. It will be a fun-filled few hours and we hope lots of people come and join us to raise a good amount of money.”

Robert added that they would be delighted if any businesses would like to donate prizes for the activities.
