Shropshire Council’s Leader Keith Barrow has invited the leader of Telford & Wrekin Council Kuldip Sahota to join his representatives when they meet with Housing Minister, Brandon Lewis MP, on Tuesday 16 December 2014.

It follows a request by Kuldip Sahota for Keith Barrow to join him in a campaign to persuade the Government of the inequity of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

The meeting, which was already arranged, will see Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning and housing, along with officers from planning and housing teams, discuss high profile matters, including the five year land supply, housing and planning issues.

Keith Barrow said:

“I am more than happy to include Kuldip when Mal Price meets with the Housing Minster next month.

“He has invited me to meet with Eric Pickles MP; however, it is Brandon Lewis MP that we need to speak to in order for us to get the best results.”

Mal Price added:

“I met with the former Housing Minister, Nick Bowles MP, last year, and Shropshire Council was praised for its excellent work in actively involving communities in decisions for housing developments.

“Since then, the introduction of NPPF has caused many problems with housing and planning that need to be raised to the current Housing Minister, and this meeting will allow us to do just that, and hopefully produce some positive outcomes.”
