Get involved with Bridgnorth, Worfield, Claverley and Alveley LJC
Shropshire Council is encouraging local people to come along to their next Bridgnorth Worfield, Claverley and Alveley Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting to talk about the issues that matter to them.
The meeting is on Wednesday 15 October 2014 at 7pm at The People’s Hall Evangelical Church, St John Street, Bridgnorth, WV15 6AG.
Mike Hyatt, University Research Director at the new University Centre Shrewsbury, will be delivering a presentation on Shropshire’s new university, with plans taking shape in the months ahead. The university is being developed by Shropshire Council, ip&e, and the University of Chester. The first postgraduate students are being welcomed to the university this autumn, with its first undergraduates expected to start their studies in September 2015.
Councillor Christian Lea, Chairman of the LJC, said:
“The establishment of a new university in Shropshire is going to bring a range of economic benefits to Shrewsbury and the county. I would encourage anyone who is considering going to university to come along to the meeting, to hear more about the exciting plans for University Centre Shrewsbury, and to learn about the variety of courses that will be on offer.”
Other items on the agenda include a presentation by Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries and culture, who will give a presentation on locality commissioning and youth commissioning. Inspector Robert Thomas will provide an update on local policing and community safety issues.
This is an open public meeting, so everyone is more than welcome to attend.
