Optimising Business Broadband event coming up in Shrewsbury on 30 September

Related topics: Community

Businesses in Shropshire are being helped to get the most out of faster broadband speeds thanks to funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the project, Optimising Business Broadband (OBB).

A series of free events and training programmes are taking place to ensure businesses are well placed to take advantage of access to faster broadband, which is being delivered as part of the national BDUK (Broadband Delivery UK) framework.

OBB offers information and advice, and is totally free of charge.  Events across Shropshire are being organised to promote how Internet-enabled technologies can vastly improve your business.  Furthermore, OBB offers up to 12-hour business assists in areas such as improving customer relationships, increasing turnover and improving productivity – all in all, giving your SME (small or medium enterprise) a chance of growing by up to 25%.

The next event to be held is at Shrewsbury Town FC’s Meadow ground on Tuesday 30 September, between 8am and 11:30am, and features talks from Grant Leboff and James Pennington.

Grant Leboff is one of the UK’s leading sales and marketing experts.

His latest book “Stickier Marketing” went straight to number one in the Amazon Sales & Marketing Chart, and was in the top 10 overall Business Chart, on publication in February 2014.  It provides companies with the new principles of marketing so they can thrive in a digital world.  A thought leader in his field, Leboff’s main focus is to address the massive changes that are taking place in a world that is constantly being introduced to new technologies and an evolving Internet.  He continually challenges sales and marketing conventions that become accepted wisdom, but don’t necessarily deliver results.

James Pennington is a proven technologist specialising in online marketing and is a sought- after event speaker within the West Midlands.  He has spent the last 10 years working with small, medium and large businesses, helping them to understand how technology can be used to gain an advantage within both the marketplace and the business.

His expertise is in search engine marketing – local and international, online marketing, CRM implementation and definition, PPC definition, website usability and assessment, along with the typical business IT requirements such as servers, networks and databases.

In addition to the keynote speakers there will also be an exhibition zone featuring Optimising Business Broadband, MAS, Winning Moves, GrowthAccelerator, CompTIA and UKITA to name a few.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council cabinet member for Broadband & Business Growth said:

It is critically important that businesses prepare to take up the benefits that the new fibre network will provide. We appreciate that in some areas the fibre network may not yet have been upgraded. Please be assured that the Connecting Shropshire remains committed to providing fibre broadband to all our businesses and will continue to work on delivering this aspiration through the current infrastructure programme and by seeking additional funding streams.
