Obesity prevention training for Shropshire’s childcarers
A Shropshire-wide obesity prevention project for those working with or supporting young children and families is offering special training courses for the county’s early years childcare providers.
The Eat Better, Move More project has been developed by Shropshire Council’s public health team and aims to provide consistent health messages in line with current national guidance, and ultimately support overall health and well-being children and families. It has two key topics – healthy eating and physical activity.
Now, the public health team have joined up with the council’s Early Years Team to provide a programme of training courses for those who work in Ofsted registered early years settings, including nurseries, pre-schools and childminders.
The training looks at the food, drink and physical activity these settings provide and how these might be developed in line with the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stages.
Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services said:
“Eat Better, Move More is an excellent and valuable project. I’m really pleased that the council’s early years team has joined up with the public health team to offer special training for Shropshire’s early years providers as part of the project.”
