Kids: get your trainers out for the Race For Life this Saturday
Young people of Shropshire are once again invited to take part in Race for Life later this month, after 2013’s great success.
Shropshire’s Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) and Shropshire’s Young Health Champions are trying to help raise money for the event, which takes place on Saturday 12 July 2014 at Shrewsbury Sports Village in Sundorne, starting at 1pm.
The race is open to boys, girls, parents, carers and group leaders of all abilities. It doesn’t matter if you want to walk, run, rollerskate, wheelchair or even scooter, any distance is perfectly acceptable, but for anyone who fancies the challenge can aim for the whole 5km.
All children and young people must be accompanied by an adult, and everyone is encouraged to wear pink, fancy dress and have wacky hair.
Karen Calder, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health, said:
“If you work with young people, would like to bring your own children, want to volunteer for the event, or even wish to join the music, dancing or competitions, then please do join us for a brilliant day supporting a worthwhile charity.”
Entry is just 50p, which is payable on the day. Contestants are encouraged to bring donations on the day as well. All proceeds go towards Cancer Research UK Race for Life or simply donate at www.justgiving.com/shropshirechildrensrace4life.
