Shropshire Council rangers at Severn Valley Country Park in Alveley are inviting visitors to join them on a six-mile guided walk on Thursday 30 January 2014.

The circular walk starts at the country park and follows a route through Alveley up to Astley Bank and Coton Hall.  From Astley Bank visitors will be able to enjoy beautiful views of the Shropshire countryside and beyond.

Walking is a good way to keep fit, and this walk is a great way to achieve the daily target of 10,000 steps as recommended by the NHS.  It is said that a brisk 10-minute walk is equivalent to 1,000 steps. The walk starts at the visitor centre at 10am and will return by 3.30pm.  This will give visitors plenty of time to achieve the target number of steps at their own pace.

Visitors joining the country park rangers are asked to bring a packed lunch with drink, as breaks will be taken along the way, and also to wear walking boots.

Booking is essential, so for more details or to book a place please call 01746 781192.  The charge for adults is £3 each, for children £1.50 each.
