Young people invited to join in celebration of youth club’s new location
Young people in Condover and the surrounding area are invited to join in the launch of Condover Youth Club’s new premises on Tuesday 17 September 2013.
The event will take place on Tuesday evening from 6.30pm at the club’s new location at the Severnside Community Room, Grange Close in Condover.
The youth club will be open to young people aged 13 to 19 on Tuesdays evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, where young people can get involved in a host of activities including cooking/baking, games, IT and Internet access, football, music, dance, cricket and much more.
The relocation of the youth club, previously located at the village hall, was made possible thanks to the efforts of the local community and organisations who have been working closely together to ensure a facility for young people remains in the village.
Shropshire Council’s community action team, along with Severnside Housing, Condover Broadplace and local Shropshire Councillor Tim Barker, had been working together to find a new location for the club.
Tim Barker said:
“This project has been achieved due to the successful partnership with Severnside Housing and our local community who have made this possible.
“I am delighted and very grateful for the support of Severnside, who have offered their facility to host our youth club, and the village hall for their generosity over the past year in allowing the young people to use their facility.
“I would also like to thank Condover Broadplace, who have also generously loaned their IT equipment to our club.
“The move into Severnside Community Room means that young people will get a chance to be more involved in their local community, as well as an opportunity to take part in a host of activities.”
Shirley Castree, Supported Housing Manager at Severnside Housing, added:
“Severnside is delighted that we were able to help out the Condover Youth Club by offering Grange Close communal room as their new meeting location. As well as providing a safe environment for the club’s regular meetings, we hope that this will give everyone an opportunity to get more involved in their local community.”
Condover Youth Club offers a safe place where young people between the ages 13 and 19 can come to socialise. If you are a young person living in or around Condover, why not take part in some activities at your local youth club? You’ll get to try out new things, meet up with friends and make new ones as well.
To join the youth club please feel free to pop down on Tuesday evenings. Alternatively you can contact the youth club leader Fazz on 07500 057314.
Volunteers are also a huge part of what makes our local youth club successful. We are always looking for volunteers to join us, so if you are passionate about helping young people and/ or would like some youth work experience please contact us at 01743 252483.
