Fun and Games in the Park in Baschurch

Related topics: Community

On Thursday 22 August 2013 Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centres are hosting a free ‘Fun and Games in the Park’ event in Baschurch for families with children under five and their siblings.

There will be a variety of ‘giant’ games to play such as Jenga, Snakes and Ladders and Connect Four, and even a chance to explore old Victorian children’s games.  There will also be exciting sport activities to really get some fresh air and exercise, including skipping, spacehoppers and an egg and spoon race.

So bring along your favourite teddy bear and a lovely picnic, and join children’s centres at Prescott Fields Park in Baschurch between 11am and 1pm.  This is a great opportunity to get out and about as a family over the summer and get involved in children’s centre activities, find out about becoming a member, and what other groups and services are available in the local area.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“This is a lovely way for families to get together and have a day out with plenty of activities to support a healthy lifestyle and encourage children to remain active and social.”

Nick Bardsley, local Shropshire Councillor for Ruyton and Baschurch, added:

“Make the most of a great August day and have a lovely morning with us.”

Alex Klages, children’s centre area leader (north west) said:

“Please come and join children’s centres at this fun-filled event and make the most of enjoying time as a family.”

Sure Start children’s centre services aims to promote services to families with children under five in the local area.  The service supports children’s learning and development, and encourages healthy lifestyles.

Free Stay and Play sessions for families with under-fives take place on Thursdays throughout the year, and Bumps to Babies for expectant families and families with babies up to 18 months on Wednesdays.
