Children and young people in Shropshire can look forward to a summer holiday packed full of fun with Shropshire Council’s leisure services.  A variety of activities are taking place from Wednesday 24 July 2013 – Friday 30 August 2013 at sports centres, village halls and outside spaces around the county; including messy play, roller skating, multi play, Playday Week and Out 2 Play.

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure, libraries and culture, encouraged local people to join in the fun:

“Shropshire Council’s holiday activity schemes offer an abundance of activities to keep children and young people entertained this summer.  I am sure many of our younger residents will be pleased to take part in the activities on offer.  There is plenty of opportunity for children and young people of Shropshire to keep fit, healthy and active over the summer break, and have some good old-fashioned fun in the process.”

Also, remember Shropshire Council’s Community Play Store is a great resource to utilise all year round.  It provides the opportunity to hire resources for you to use at home, in an organised setting, inside a venue or outside to play.  The Play Store is equipped with a wide variety of equipment, from giant games to sports equipment to musical instruments.

Anyone can use it; all you have to do is become a member of Play Store.  Membership is free, and equipment hire costs are nominal.

A full list of equipment can be viewed in the Resource Catalogue.
