People who rent property to private tenants are being invited to the Shropshire branch of the National Landlords Association later this month.

Special guest at the meeting is the chief executive officer of the association, Richard Lambert, who will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about the rental market.

The meeting will be held at the council chamber in Shirehall, Shrewsbury, on Monday 15 July 2013, starting at 6pm.

As well as Mr Lambert, both Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Mercia Police will be coming to the meeting.

The fire service will be making a presentation on safety provisions in the home, and the police will talk about how to ensure your rental property is not being used for illegal activity, such as growing cannabis or other drugs.

An update will also be given on the Government’s welfare reforms and how they affect  private sector landlords.

Shropshire Council administers the meetings on behalf of the National Landlords Association, and they are open to anyone, whether a member of the association or not.

Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for housing, said:

“This promises to be a very useful meeting for anyone who owns a property which they rent out.  It’s quite a coup to get Richard Lambert to come along – he is very knowledgeable about the rental sector, and I would encourage people to come along and hear what he has to say.”

The meeting will include exhibitions from various companies, showing products that will be of interest to the private sector landlord, ranging from oil-buying schemes and recycling schemes, to flood and fire prevention products for the home.
