South planning committee decisions – 18 June 2013

The following planning decisions were made by Shropshire Council’s South planning committee at its meeting on Tuesday 18 June 2013 in Bridgnorth.

17/18 Hockley Road, Broseley, TF12 5HT (12/03681/FUL)
Erection of a single storey detached dwelling and formation of new driveway, parking and turning area following removal of existing timber garage and sun room.

Decision:  That, contrary to the officer’s recommendation, planning permission be refused for the following reason: 

The proposed development constituted overdevelopment, would detract from the character and appearance of the Broseley Conservation Area, would not protect, restore, conserve or enhance the natural built and historic environment, and was contrary to Core Strategy Policy CS6.

Shropshire Sand and Gravel, Bridgwalton Quarry, Morville, Bridgnorth (12/04824/EIA)
Extension to Bridgwalton Quarry and restoration to land for a mix of uses comprising agricultural use, woodland, species rich conservation grassland and associated landscaping works incorporating new woodland planting together with the retention of the existing processing plant, silt lagoons, haul route and the erection of associated cement storage silo.

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation, subject to delegated authority being given to the Special Projects and Minerals Manager to amend the detailed wording of the habitat management conditions in accordance with the memorandum from Shropshire Council’s Natural Environment dated 17 June 2013.

Barns South of Norton Farm, Norton, Craven Arms (12/05241/FUL)
Conversion and extension of redundant agricultural buildings into ten holiday accommodation units, clubhouse/store and swimming pool; erection of building to house biomass boiler; installation of sewage treatment plant; provision of vehicular access and parking/turning areas.

Decision: That, subject to an additional condition requiring a scheme detailing the proposed boundary treatment, be submitted to and approved by the LPA, planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation.

The Three Tuns Inn, Salop Street, Bishop’s Castle, SY9 5BW (13/00215/VAR)
Removal of Condition 2 of planning permission SS/1/7223/P/ to allow ancillary accommodation to be severed from and occupied independently of public house (revised submission).

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation.

Timberland, Sturt Common, Kinlet, DY12 3HN (13/00553/FUL)
Application under Section 73a of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for the siting of mobile home to be used as annex accommodation.

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation, subject to: 

  • An additional condition requiring the woodwork of the cabin to be stained a darker brown more in keeping with the surrounding area.

Reason: To provide an acceptable external appearance.

  • A condition requiring a landscaping scheme to be submitted within 4 months and the approved details to be implemented during the coming autumn/spring, and that it should include appropriate native hedgerow planting, eg beech and hawthorn, and specimen trees.

Oaklea, Longmynd Hotel, Cunnery Road, Church Stretton, Shropshire (13/01023/FUL)
Change of use of existing manager’s dwelling and ancillary accommodation to open market dwelling with unrestricted occupancy.

Decision: That, subject to a Section 106 Agreement relating to an affordable housing financial contribution, planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation.
