Brockton Court Bridge repair work to start

The road over Brockton Court Bridge will be closed for up to two weeks starting on Monday 24 June 2013, for repair work to be carried out to the bridge.

Brockton Court Bridge, which is just to the south of Telford, carries the unclassified U6630 road over the Mad Brook, from the Brockton Court junction with the A442 to the Brockton Grange junction with the B4379.

The repairs that will be carried out are to fill in scour damage below the bridge and to repair the damaged bridge parapet.  The work will be carried out by Ringway on behalf of Shropshire Council.

Unfortunately, for the work to be carried out safely and due to the narrow width of the road, it is not possible to keep the bridge open for vehicles to use while the repairs are carried out.  However, there will be access for pedestrians, cyclists and horses to pass while the work takes place.

When the road is closed there will be a signed diversion route taking traffic around, using the A442 south to the roundabout and then back up the B4379 to Brockton, and in reverse.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“This is essential work which needs to be carried out to enable the bridge to continue to function safely in the long term.

“Whilst it is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some disruption, please be assured that everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
