Play badminton locally

Members of the local community are being encouraged to get back in to playing badminton thanks to a casual pay-and-play initiative held on Monday evenings at Lilleshall National Sports and Conferencing Centre.

The sessions, linked to Badminton England’s No Strings Badminton scheme, offer adult participants a chance to play in a semi-structured environment against like-minded individuals without having to pre-book, commit to attending every week or paying a joining fee.  Lead by a qualified coach, the sessions place an emphasis on introducing fundamental badminton skills through competition and games.

Having started the sessions back in November 2011, the scheme has helped to develop several players, is open to all abilities, and is delivered in a fun and friendly environment.  The sessions from this evening (Monday 14 January 2013) will be held in the centre’s new sports hall across three courts, with the cost per session remaining at £3.

There is an added incentive for players aged between 16 and 25 who can access the scheme for an introductory rate of £1 per session, which is good for the first six sessions attended.
