Sign up for Oswestry bike maintenance class in January
Shropshire Council is offering a free basic cycle maintenance course on Friday 25 January 2013 at Eastern Oswestry Community Centre, 10am to 1pm.
It’s part of a wider programme of adult cycle maintenance classes planned for 2013 in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and suitable for cyclists with limited knowledge of how their bike works and limited experience of maintaining their bike.
The adult workshop will help participants carry out a safety check, identify the more common faults that develop with everyday use of a bicycle, and learn how to undertake minor adjustments and repairs such as adjusting a brake and tackling a puncture repair.
To book a place on the course go to http://travelshropshire.co.uk/cycle-maintenance and for more information about the course please call Ray Hughes 01743 253063 in the New Year, or email transport@shropshire.gov.uk.
Shropshire Council is committed to helping people to cycle more regularly through their Travel Shropshire project. Practical support on offer through Travel Shropshire includes organised group cycle rides and free one-to-one introductory cycle training for adults across the county.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for cycling, said:
“”This course is a great way of tuning up your bike to ensure it is in safe working order ready for your New Year cycle trips. This training demonstrates the commitment of Shropshire Council, through the work of Travel Shropshire, to achieve our aim of getting more people cycling, more safely, more often.”
More information about this course and other cycling initiatives, including cycle route maps, adult cycle training and lots of other useful resources, can be found on the Travel Shropshire website at www.travelshropshire.co.uk.
