Recycling site at St Julian’s Friars car park to be removed
Shropshire Council and their waste contractor Veolia are reminding residents in Shrewsbury town centre that the recycling site at St Julian’s Friars car park is due to be removed by the end of this week (Saturday 8 December 2012) due to the redevelopment of this area.
The enhancement work in this area of Shrewsbury is part of exciting project aimed at making the St Julian’s Friars area easier for vehicles to access, while improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for waste, said:
“The recycling site at St Julian’s Friar’s is not heavily used, and the location means that there are access problems when the containers need emptying.
“Residents on Wyle Cop, Town Walls and St. Julian’s Friars area are already offered a kerbside collection service for paper, cans, glass, and plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, and other recycling sites can be found not too far away, at Asda, Rowley’s House, and at Frankwell car park.”
If you live in the Wyle Cop, Town Walls and St Julian’s Friars area and want to recycle your waste, please contact us to arrange a collection service, on 0345 678 9007 or email customer.service@shropshire.gov.uk.
The nearest alternative recycling site for residents is to go to Asda on Old Potts Way which is just 0.35 miles away and has a full range of containers for paper, cans, glass, plastic, tetra pak cartons, cardboard and textiles.
There are also other recycling sites in the town centre at Rowley’s House Museum and Frankwell car park. For a full list of sites visit www.recycleforshropshire.com.
