Stoney Stretton Bridge to close for repairs
Stoney Stretton Bridge, which carries the Stoney Stretton to the B4386 road over a watercourse alongside Shrubbery Farm, will be closed for repairs for up to two days starting on Tuesday 23 October 2012.
The proposed work will include repairing minor scour damage to the foundations of one of the bridge’s training walls, and replacing a short length of roadside fencing.
Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, it will be necessary to temporarily close it to traffic to carry out the proposed work safely.
When the bridge is closed, it is proposed to divert traffic to the B4386 road at Yockleton.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:
‘’It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.’
