Related topics: Community

People living in Alveley are being encouraged to take part in a community litter pick in the village on Wednesday 22 August 2012.

Shropshire Council officers will be at Cooks Cross at 9.30am to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk.  Litter picking equipment will be provided.

Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:

“I’d like to invite as many people as possible to come along on the day to lend a hand in this joint effort between the community and the council to keep Alveley clean and tidy.”

Tina Woodward, local Shropshire Councillor for Alveley and Claverley, said:

“I hope as many residents as possible take the opportunity to join us in tidying up our village.  Please do join in and make a real difference for the benefit of our community; hopefully the sun will shine.”

This is just one of a number of community litter picks taking place across the county over the next few months.  These include Bridgnorth, Albrighton, Shifnal and Highley.
