Boycott Bridge to close for essential repairs
Boycott Bridge, which carries the Farley to Boycott road over the Rea Brook near Pontesbury, will be closed to traffic for up to five days starting on Monday 13 August 2012 to enable repairs to be carried out to it.
Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, it is necessary to close it to traffic to carry out the work safely.
When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via Edge, Hinton and Pontesbury.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:
“This is essential work which needs to be carried out.
“It is appreciated that the bridge closure may cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
