Shropshire Council Chairman to host annual civic service
Chairman of Shropshire Council, Malcolm Pate, will host the council’s annual civic service this Sunday (11 March 2012) at Shrewsbury Abbey.
The service will be led by the Bishop of Shrewsbury, The Right Reverend Mark Rylands, and the Vicar of Shrewsbury Abbey, The Reverend Paul Firmin.
Councillor Pate will be joined by fellow councillors, the Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff, the chairmen or mayors of Shropshire’s town and parish councils, and by the chairmen of neighbouring councils.
Representatives of Shropshire organisations who work with the council, including the police, fire service, health authority and chamber of commerce, have been invited, along with officers from the armed forces.
Councillor Pate said:
“The civic service provides us with an opportunity to review, reflect upon and celebrate the services that the council and our partners provide to the people of Shropshire, and allows us to reinforce our commitment to continuing to provide the best possible service in the year ahead.
“I look forward to welcoming guests and colleagues from such a large number and variety of organisations to this very special service.”
