Call for funding applications to Cleobury Rural LJC

Voluntary groups and organisations from Cleobury Rural areas are being invited to submit their funding applications by Wednesday 25 April 2012, in time for the Local Joint Committee’s (LJC) funding allocation. 

Cleobury Rural LJC is made up of from Shropshire Councillors and local parish councillors from Burford, Boraston, Coreley, Cleobury Mortimer, Farlow and Oreton, Hopton Wafers, Neen Savage, Kinlet, Milson and Neen Sollars, Wheathill, Stottesdon and Sidbury. 

The committee’s 2011/12 total budget allocation is £18,000. 

Groups and organisations wishing to submit an application for funding can send completed application forms to Shropshire Council’s community action officer, Tracy Johnson, at Community Working, Southern Area Team, Shropshire Council, Westgate, Bridgnorth, WV16 5AA. 

Received applications for this round of funding allocation will be considered before the next committee meeting on Tuesday 12 June 2012 at 7pm at Burford Village Hall. 

Councillor Madge Shineton, Chairman of Cleobury Rural LJC, said:-

“We want to reach out to local groups within our geographic area, especially those in the parishes which have projects in the planning stages and those who have not applied for funding before.  Please contact Tracy Johnson for information on how to apply for funding to assist your group.  

“At our last meeting, held at Cleobury Parish Halll on 29 February 2012, we awarded funding to the Bell Brass Band through our Community Chest fund to purchase a brass instrument.  The LJC also awarded Community First Responders vital lifesaving equipment, Nightingale Nursing Fund and local youth football clubs received a grant towards a Football Fun Day, Cleobury Patients Voice funding towards setting up Cleobury Compassionate Communities, and the Stottyshop received funding to help set up a community shop.”
