Working in partnership to ensure council tenants’ safety

Bridgnorth and Oswestry tenants of Shropshire Council are now seeing a new face at their doors to check that that the electrical installation within their property is safe and in good working order.

Shropshire Council are working with Dodd Group (Midlands Ltd) who have recently been awarded a 12-month ‘period testing’ contract to inspect the electrical installation of approximately 600 tenant properties in the Oswestry area and 1,200 in the Bridgnorth area.

A local family company with over 60 years experience, Dodd Group (Midlands Ltd)’s team of professional engineers install and maintain the heating and electrical services in all types of properties, from social housing to public libraries.

When visiting tenants’ homes, Dodd Group (Midlands Ltd) will provide a professional service which will include:

  • A thorough visual inspection of the electrical installation within each property, together with an electrical test of each circuit.
  • Testing, and replacing where required, of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

Councillor Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for housing, said
