Come and visit Ludlow
Ludlow is a picturesque market town that has lots to offer including; historic buildings, a famous castle and a variety of independent shops.
Shropshire Council, alongside Ludlow Town Council, the Chamber of Trade and Commerce and the Guild of Retailers, is encouraging people to come and visit this lively town this February.
King Street, between its junction with Bull Ring and Broad Street, will be closed to traffic from 21 February for around four weeks. This is to enable essential repairs to be carried out to some of the shops along this road.
Despite this, people will continue to be able to get into and out of the town to experience all it has to offer. Access will be maintained along the closed section of road at all times for pedestrians and cyclists.
The town has three main car parks, a railway station, plenty of on-street parking and a regular Park and Ride service which runs from the Eco Park on Sheet Road.
Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport
and IT, said:
“We understand that the closure of King Street will cause disruption, especially as Ludford Bridge is closed. However, we will do all we can to limit this.”
Rosanna Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:
“We hope that by co-ordinating all these works together, we will get the work done as soon as possible. I am grateful for the co-operation of Ludlow Town Council and the local businesses and would encourage everyone to come to Ludlow as usual and enjoy all it has to offer in terms of Ludlow Castle, St. Laurence’s, the town’s national award winning market, individual shops and much more.”
