Become a Friend of The Mere
Are you passionate about The Mere? Do you have some time to spare or a skill to share? The Friends of The Mere is a new group being set up to enable local people to get more involved with activities and events at The Mere, Ellesmere.
If you have an interest in The Mere and would like to get involved with conservation, wildlife, local history, horticulture, events or awareness-raising, please come along to the inaugural Friends meeting at The Boathouse Visitor Centre next Monday (31 January) at 5pm.
Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and leisure, said
“This is an opportunity for local people to get involved in the many things that already go in the park. The Friends of the Mere Group will enable like-minded people to work together on projects that interest them, and also to bring forward ideas of their own.”
Current activities planned for the spring include the launch of Heronwatch 2011, practical woodland management and the Meres and Mosses Festival.
If you would like to attend the Friends of The Mere inaugural meeting, please telephone the Boathouse on 01691 624280 to register your interest.
