Result of Pontesbury neighbourhood plan referendum

A referendum was held in the Pontesbury parish on Thursday 7 September 2023 to ask local residents whether or not they want to adopt a neighbourhood plan.

A neighbourhood plan gives local communities an opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping their neighbourhood’s growth and development.

Residents were asked the following question:

“Do you want Shropshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Pontesbury to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

The result of the referendum was:

Yes – 420 votes (85.54%)
No – 68 votes (13.85%)

Number of ballot papers rejected: 3

Turnout: 18.46%
