Council tax rebate for energy costs: applications deadline 22 June approaches

Related topics: Finance and budget

Shropshire Council is urging residents that received a letter inviting them to apply for the £150 council tax energy rebate dated 17 May 2022, and who haven’t yet applied, to ensure they get their applications in no later than Wednesday 22 June 2022.

Residents that don’t apply by this date will not be able to receive the rebate via a bank payment, or a cash voucher; but instead, will have the energy rebate credited against their council tax account. This will happen before the end of September 2022.

Also, if you don’t want the rebate, you need to log onto the website and let us know.

To date, we estimate there are around 10,000 residents that received the letter but haven’t applied.

If you aren’t able to apply online, you can call the team on 0345 678 9002 and someone will be able to help you with your application. Phone lines are extremely busy so please only call if you can’t go online.

If you have already applied, but haven’t heard anything yet, you don’t need to do anything. We have received around 16,000 applications so far and the team are busy processing these.
