Seven new affordable homes could be built in Shifnal as part of a proposal to redevelop the disused site of the Old Baptist Church on Shrewsbury Road.

The proposal, led by Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing (STAR Housing) alongside Shifnal Town Council, is to create two small blocks of flats that will provide seven much-needed homes for local people.

Whilst just a proposal at this stage, drawings and plans were shared with people in the town last week (Thursday 16 February 2017), allowing their feedback to shape a future planning application.

Jason O’Donoghue, Development Manager for STAR Housing, said:

“Over 40 people came along to see our proposal for the site. It was a great turnout and we very much welcome people’s views.

“We’ve worked closely with Shifnal Town Council and our appointed architects to make sure that the new buildings echo the design of the original, and that they have the same footprint to keep the street scene the same.

“The scheme was largely well received. We will use people’s comments to feed into our planning application.”
