News from our partners Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group

The Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are looking to learn about patients’ experiences of receiving NHS care, from those who have a connection with the Armed Forces.

If you are currently serving, a veteran or family member of someone who has/is serving in HM Armed Forces, the CCG would welcome your feedback – whether positive or negative.

The CCG are looking for feedback from anyone who can demonstrate a positive or negative example of where the Armed Forces Covenant may or may not have been correctly adhered to, eg if patients felt they were disadvantaged in any way, due to their time or their family’s time in the Armed Forces.

The purpose of the feedback is to ensure the CCG are correctly adhering to the NHS Covenant pledge at a local level here in Shropshire.

Having signed the Armed Forces Covenant, the NHS has pledged:-

  • To ensure the Armed Forces community aren’t disadvantaged from accessing appropriate health services.
  • To provide priority access to NHS care (including hospital, primary or community care) for conditions associated to time within the Armed Forces (service-related), subject to clinical need.
  • That those injured in service, whether physically or mentally, should be cared for in a way which reflects the nation’s moral obligation to them whilst respecting the individual’s wishes.
  • For those with concerns about mental health, where symptoms may not be present for some time after leaving service, they should be able to access services with health professionals who have an understanding of Armed Forces culture.

If you would like to provide feedback, please contact David Fairclough on safcc@shropshire.gov.uk for a feedback form.

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
