The Covenant Fund which supports the Armed Forces community is now open for applications.

The Fund, which is financed by the Ministry of Defence (MOD), provides £10 million per annum in funding for services and projects that meet the Funds 4 priorities:

  1. A Veterans Gateway
  2. Families in Stress
  3. Improving local Covenant delivery
  4. Community Integration and/or local service delivery

The MOD cannot fund a service that is or should be provided by others (for example, by Government Departments or local authorities) and projects must not generate a profit, top-up an existing Grant-in-Aid or raise funds for the charitable sector.

The MOD can only provide one off funding so where there is an ongoing cost – such as maintenance or staff costs, we will look for clear and realistic plans for future funding to ensure the service or project is sustainable.

The MOD work with local Covenant partnerships to ensure that the projects they fund are well-connected and needed locally, and do not duplicate other provision.

The MOD will only assess applications in England, Scotland and Wales which have been sent and endorsed by the relevant local Covenant partnership.

We ask that all applicants to approach their partnership in good time to get their input into and endorsement of the proposed project. Your local partnership Coordinator for Shropshire is David Fairclough, who can be contacted on: SAFCC@Shropshire.gov.uk or 01743 252 483.
