Now the General Election campaign has started, Shropshire Council is reminding local people to register to vote by 20 April so you can have your say in the upcoming elections.

If you have recently moved or are not registered then visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote to apply to register online.

On May 7, voters will go to the polls to elect a Member of Parliament for each of the Ludlow, North Shropshire and Shrewsbury and Atcham constituencies.

Claire Porter, the Electoral Registration Officer for Shropshire Council, said:

“Time is running out to make sure you can take part in the elections, so I’d encourage everyone in Shropshire to take action now if they are not registered to vote. The message is simple: you can’t vote if you’re not registered by 20 April.

It’s easy to apply to register and will only take a few minutes online at gov.uk/register-to-vote. If you’re not sure if you are registered, please double check.”

You can check whether you’re registered to vote by calling 0345 678 9015 or emailing elections@shropshire.gov.uk.
