News from our partners Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing are planning two toy swap events in the run up to Christmas.

Toy Swaps are a great way to help reduce the cost of Christmas by recycling previous gifts and toys that children have outgrown, whilst selecting alternative stocking fillers at no cost.

The events will be held in Bridgnorth and Oswestry, where parents and carers can bring along their children’s pre-loved toys and swap them for alternative ones.  The events are:

  • Monday 2 December 2013 – Sure Start Centre, St Mary’s Bluecoat School, Bridgnorth, 1pm – 3pm
  • Thursday 5 December 2013 – Albert Road Church, Castlefields, Oswestry, 11am – 1.30pm.

Toys can include:

  • Any type of toy, indoor or outdoor
  • Kids’ DVDs (U or PG title only)
  • Kids’ craft items
  • Clothes
  • Books

Sue Adams, Managing Director for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, said:

“We understand Christmas can put a lot of financial pressure on parents and carers, especially those on a tight budget.  Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing want to support families to help reduce the burden, and our community Toy Swap events are a great opportunity to help save families money at Christmas by swapping toys, instead of buying new ones.”

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing involvement and empowerment officers Emma Feely and Lauren Woods added:

“This is a great opportunity to exchange pre-loved games, DVDs and clothes that your children have grown out of for alternative ones.  You can bring as many good quality toys to swap as you wish.  We’ll even gift wrap them for free.  We will also be serving festive refreshments.”

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing staff will also be on hand at the events to provide housing, finance and tenancy support advice.
