Residents of Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn are invited to attend a Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting on Tuesday 14 February 2012 at All Saints Church Hall, Gobowen.  The meeting will start at 7pm and look at issues affecting people in the area.

Shropshire Council’s festival and events officer Joy Durrant has been booked to give a presentation detailing how people can get involved in the Olympic Torch Relay.  The Olympic Torch will be passing through areas of Oswestry in May, and there will be opportunities for young people to take part in build up events at a number of schools.

The committee will approve decisions on 10 grant applications totalling £9,225, in order to allocate the remaining £6,042 of the 2011/12 budget.

Councillor David Lloyd, Chairman of the Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn LJC, said:-

”It is an exciting time for the area, and we are delighted to be in a position to cascade information locally on this summer’s Diamond Jubilee and Olympic Festivals.  We will have detailed plans that have been finalised for the zebra crossing in Gobowen, and also have an update on the Big Local Project.  All of the committee work extremely hard to spread the word about opportunities in the area and to raise issues that concern the people they represent.  I hope that people brave the weather and turn out for this meeting.”
