Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council are inviting people to hear the results of the recent consultation about a new skate park in Shrewsbury at a special meeting this week (Wednesday 18 January 2012).

The meeting, to take place at 7pm at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, will inform people of the favoured options for a new skate park in Shrewsbury, which will include ideas for the design and build of the new facility.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for active and healthy lifestyles, said:

“We have had an encouraging response from the consultation and I would like to thank all those people who took the time to complete the survey and share their thoughts with us.  We want to build a facility that people will use and we can only do this by listening to what the public are telling us.”

Peter Nutting, Leader of Shrewsbury Town Council, said:

“Shrewsbury Town Council is keen to ensure that excellent sporting facilities are provided within the town.  By working closely with Shropshire Council, local residents and stakeholders, we believe we can achieve this for the benefit of all concerned.”
