Community groups from the St Oswald and Llanymynech area are reminded that the first round of 2011/12 funding for the St Oswald and Llanymynech Local Joint Committee (LJC) is now open for those seeking funding for worthy projects.

Groups from the area, including the parishes of Oswestry Rural, Llanyblodwel, Llanymynech and Pant, Melverley, Kinnerley and Knockin, are being encouraged to apply for a share of 2011/12’s budget of £15,500.

The deadline for receiving applications for consideration by the committee is Friday 6 May 2011.

The successful bids will be announced at the next St Oswald and Llanymynech LJC held on Tuesday 14 June 2011 at Morda Village Hall at 7pm.  All residents are welcome.

As well as having a dedicated budget to spend on local community projects, the LJC offers an opportunity for people to raise issues that matter to them and their area.  The committee meets three times a year and gives local people the chance to find out more about important local matters.

The scheduled future meeting dates for the St Oswald and Llanymynech LJC area for this year are:-

Tuesday 14 June 2011 (Morda Village Hall)

Tuesday 4 October 2011 (Knockin Assembly Rooms)

Tuesday 7t February 2012 (Llanymynech Village Hall)

The meetings are overseen by a panel of councillors from local town and parish councils and Shropshire Council.

Shropshire Councillor Arthur Walpole, Chairman of the St Oswald and Llanymynech LJC, said:

“The committee are looking forward to getting started with the first round of the year.  We have had some great projects over the last year and look forward to many more this year.  We are particularly interested in projects that are sustainable and benefit the wider community.”
